Project Overview
The homeowner wanted to replace an old, worn deck with a safer and more durable outdoor living space. Instead of a basic replacement, the project was upgraded to a custom multi-level composite deck with premium finishes, integrated lighting, and features designed for future shade installation.
The finished deck uses Toasted Sand composite boards, clamshell perimeter trim, custom-height posts, and recessed LED lighting.

The Challenge
The existing wood deck had deteriorating boards and had become unsafe, requiring a full replacement.
The new design also included several custom elements that added complexity: multiple deck levels, transitions between sections, picture-frame perimeter boards, taller-than-standard posts, and additional framing to support the finished layout.
The homeowner also wanted the deck prepared for a future shade-cloth system, which required custom post heights and coordination during the initial build.
Our Solution
We removed the worn wood deck and constructed a new multi-level composite deck using Toasted Sand boards.
A picture-frame perimeter design with clamshell composite trim was added for a more finished appearance. Additional structural framing and support beams were incorporated to accommodate the multi-level transitions and perimeter detailing.
Custom-height posts were installed so the homeowner can add shade cloth between the house and post line in the future.
We also integrated recessed LED deck lighting to improve visibility and make the outdoor space more usable in the evening.
